Most people put off a glass claim because they assume it means paperwork, a hit to their premium, and a cheque they have to chase. In Ontario, it usually means none of those things.
What you need to know
- Glass is a comprehensive claim, not a collision claim. It is treated differently from an at-fault accident.
- Chip repairs usually carry no deductible at all. Insurers would rather pay for a twenty-minute repair than a full windshield, so many policies waive it entirely.
- You choose the shop. An insurer may suggest a preferred provider. You are not obliged to use one.
- We bill the insurer directly on most policies, so you pay your deductible and nothing more.
How it works here
- Call us or send the details. Bring the claim number if you already have one.
- If you have not opened a claim yet, we will tell you what your insurer will ask for before you pick up the phone.
- We confirm coverage and the correct glass for your vehicle, and book you in.
- We invoice the insurer. You settle the deductible with us, if there is one.
Carriers we bill directly
CONFIRM WITH CLIENT: Which insurers does the shop direct-bill? A named list is far more persuasive than a general claim, and this section should not go live as a generic statement.
Will it raise my premium?
We are a glass shop, not your broker, so we will not tell you what a claim will do to your renewal — that depends on your insurer, your policy and your history. What we can tell you is that a comprehensive glass claim is treated differently from an at-fault collision. Ask your broker if you want certainty before you proceed; we will hold the appointment.
